    I would really like to plant red Osier in my 1ish forest acre in central Wisconsin also. Is simply planting in a forest setting a good idea? I'm trying to remove Japanese honeysuckle and replace it.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 День назад

      Be very careful when you remove that honeysuckle. In central WI it is very valuable for wildlife. The red osier dogwood needs a lot of sun, medium to damp soil and can often be heavily browsed. Make sure to cage it and get some sun to it!

    • @75shadystorm
      @75shadystorm День назад

      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 yea but Japanese honeysuckle is invasive and out competes everything very quickly. It never looks like anything eats it either compared to everything else in the woods.

    I have 10 acres and neighbors multiple parcels each direction my side of road never go to their lot, out of state land investors and lots passed down for generations unused. A poor abandoned area mainly used for timber. When I put a 1 acre food plot in, it got wiped out, trying to grow fruit and nut trees that can’t be mowed down but takes years to bear well. Working on another 1 acre of food plots but I suspect it will also be quickly mowed down.

    @user-jz9eb2yd8g 2 дня назад

    We are blessed enough to have a great mixture or pasture fields, foodplots, and a good mixture of thick and open hardwoods. Our farm is roughly a mile from yearly soy bean fields. Every year we watch several older bucks in the summer months in the soy bean fields. 2/3rds of the bucks normally make their way back to our farm around the middle of September. We do have bucks that live on the farm year round but it was always amazing that they always come back to the best winter food sources which is on our farm, and also our farm has relatively low pressure so normally the bucks that make it back to the farm for the fall survive the year and get to grow old

    Simple answer when someone says "I've always had a deal with the last owner to hunt here..." "Whatever deal you had was not recorded in the title conditions or closing documents when I bought the land, so your friend ended your deal when they sold the land. My conditions on this land required you to leave and not come back." Makes it not you that's the problem, and takes away that foothold in the argument "that you just didn't know the terms of your land surrender when you bought" - turns it around on the trespasser and the previous land owner.

    When you put in a water hole does it need to be under ground level slightly with the ground slightly sloped or tapered into the water hole or can it be a few inches above the ground?

    Wisconsin had one of the best deer management programs for many years until 7 years ago when the state eliminated tagging and physical deer registration. Hunter back tags/licenses were eliminated; deer carcass tags were eliminated; physical deer registration was eliminated. The results are a decrease in license and tag sales; a decrease in deer registrations as much as 30+ % and an increase in poaching and a very poor CWD monitoring system. The Disc observation Congress and majority of hunters statewide have begged the legislature and DNR to bring back tagging, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

    Jeff, I respect and admire you. In my area of big woods in OH we overseed oats early Aug and rye early Sep into all our perennial legume plots, birdsfoot, red and white clover, chicory. It's catch rate appears to be 75-85%. One of your principles is the same food across all the plots- this keeps our browse pressure constant Aug-Mar. Thanks for all you do and keep experimenting! 🏹

    I am surrounded by alfalfa and ag in central Illinois. Very little wooded property in the area.. I have about 5 acres of river bottom soil on a permission property available that does not have cattle run on it. Clover has been the only relatively “shade tolerant” seed I have been able to grow consistently. I did the work to clear about 1/4 acre, lime it, and put seed out for my 10 yr old. It draws a lot of daytime activity. While we aren’t shooting monsters, I love that my son has filled tags the past 2 yrs.

You have a big platform and need to think seriously on the effects you have on the environment, a lot of uneducated people watch your videos and think you’re some type of agricultures god and they take your word for truth, you are helping damage the future of our country by spraying needless chemicals it’s time to do better.
